Church on The Cape >
About Us The purpose of Church on the Cape is to connect to:
· God and our personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ
· Our fellow-followers of Christ and our relationship with them
· Our purpose in the lives of the people in our community
Each of the above fundamentals can be expanded into core values that inspire, captivate, and motivate. Together, our nine core values establish the ministry of Church on the Cape. They lay the foundation for everything we do.
WORSHIP - We delight in the Lord. It's more than just singing songs.
PRAYER - We believe in the power of prayer.
PREACHING & TEACHING - We stick to the Scripture.
FELLOWSHIP - We pursue authentic relationships rather than remain acquaintances.
SHEPHERDING - We strive for harmony and care for one another.
BUILDING FAMILIES - We invest in our families.
GIVING - We look for ways to serve and give.
TRAINING - We discipline ourselves to live holy lives.
EVANGELISM & MISSIONS - We must let others know about Jesus. We can't remain silent.
So in summary, Church on the Cape is a fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ. We are a Christ-centered, and Bible-focused, committed to worship, discipleship, fellowship and evangelism.
History
Church on the Cape had its first official meeting on April 15, 2001. Up until that point, seven couples made up a core group which met each week for four months. They came together to study the Word of God, share in Christian fellowship and pray about the launch of Church on the Cape.
What began with core group meetings in various homes, eventually blossomed into a full church service. We began at Holly Tree Elementary. The congregation gathered there for just over two years. Although we were grateful to use this facility, the leadership knew that it was just a matter of time before we would have to move to a different place. That's exactly what happened.
Since January 2004, Church on the Cape has gathered in their permanent location at 318 Silver Lake Road. To go from packing everything in a trailer to owning a building has had its challenges - but it has been worth it. By God's grace, Church on the Cape continues to grow deeper in their understanding of the Word of God and in their love for others. We hope and pray this continues…
